relatedly if anyone would like to help a trans girl (me) in NYC get a job in tech hmu
@melissasage I just left a place with an NYC office in Midtown that's looking for Python/Django engineers and React engineers, if that fits your profile. If so, DM me and I can tell you more about them. 🙂
@melissasage if you're ever workin on something and want a hand to help, just for the experience, hmu because I'm studying js & node as well :)
@melissasage I’d recommend (though you may entirely likely already be aware of any or all):
AngelList - all startups, so higher risk, but there are some interesting projects to be found. No recruiters.
Hacker News “Who is Hiring?” threads, posted on the first business day of each month. All employers, sometimes posted by the hiring managers themselves.
Women Who Code - again, all employers, sadly with a heavy leaning toward web dev, so, great for you, not so hot for an embedded sort as myself. =:)
And then just plain Startpage/Swisscows/DuckDuckGo searches, of course, using phrases like “we’re hiring” to pluck out the actual listings.
@porsupah I actually didn't know that women who code had a job board, so that's useful to know :D. thanks!
A cool and chill place for cool and chill people.
