What's a realistic recovery time before I can work again?
I work a pretty physically demanding job (Starbucks Barista, constantly busy store.), though with very little heavy lifting, which someone else could do too.
@loki Depends on your surgery technique. I'd say 3 months.
Personally i'm at 8 months now and i'm still not able to do more than one big thing a day, like i have about 6 hours of gas in the car before i need to crash.
@loki it takes a good year, to a year and a half to fully recover. I had pins and needle sensation in my left leg for the first month and my foot would drag. That only fully recovered in sensation by month 5.
Also the dilation, cleaning and care schedule is really hard to fit in with anything else until you're around month 3 onwards.
@loki Basically, end of month 3 is when its no longer thought of as a "medical site" and is just your vagina.
It will knock you on your ass. For reference the nurse team were shocked and congratulatory i was walking happily at week 3, when i came in for my first post check up.
@loki you’re gonna be in bed almost 24/7 for *at least* a month after discharge, if not two. Walking and standing will feel very awkward for a while, I think by about month 3 it was regularly doable even though it felt weird. That’s also around the time where the constant fatigue from your body recovering starts to lessen, though that will stay for a while longer too.

@loki minimum will be a month in most cases, altho if you can afford to i would suggest longer esp for keeping up with cleaning and dilation
