As a parent, I like to point out that gentle parenting techniques aren't new. "Gentle Measures in the Management and Training of the Young" was written by Jacob Abbott in 1871.
In 1871 he was talking about how physical, emotional, and mental harm wasn't needed and how then-current techniques for child management clearly caused harm.
Like, WTF. How did our parents and grandparents (and at times _their_ parents and grandparents) not know this stuff?
