On , communities tend to coalesce around around multiple subreddits with similar topics, so for a alternative, it makes sense to have a "technology instance" or an "art instance" that mainly serves those specific communities.

The is much more in tune to how people use Reddit, compared to . I don't make a Twitter account specifically to be about art or technology; I just make a general Twitter account.
